Sometimes I seriously think about specializing in just maternity and newborn photography. Many photographers do this type of thing. They only photograph kids or only pets or only babies. I get the mentality behind it. If you specialize and that’s all you do, you will be really good at it. You will be known for that. But I just can’t bring myself to do it. I love the variety of different age groups of kids. I love playing with them and getting to know them. Then I would miss out on photographing sweet kids this…

Thanks for playing with me Miss M!! I had fun!

*sigh*
10 years old
My baby is 10. Still sounds odd to say even though it’s been almost 2 months. I’m a bit slow;) Every year on my girls birthdays (or around there) I take them out for their own shoot. They get to pick outfits, location and most poses. They will take occasional suggestions but for the most part it’s all them. It’s the only way to get them to cooperate!
Here are a few of my favorites from “A’s” shoot!
This one is my favorite and I think will be blown up big!

There is no session I like better than the maternity & newborn sessions when they are booked together.
I love getting to know the families before their new little one joins their family, especially when they have other children already. They are so happy and excited to become new parents again and to become big brothers or sisters.
Then getting to come back to see them again after their babies have arrived. I am always so honoured that people choose me to come capture these fleeting days with their families.
I was lucky enough to squeeze in this maternity session before mum had her baby and before I left for Mexico. Their little girl is the cutest thing EVAH!! It was hard for me to remember to take pictures of more than just her!!
Then just a few short weeks later, back I am to meet their new baby GIRL!! Hope she gets these killer eyes too!!
And for all you babies I will be photographing, yet to be born, here are the steps to the perfect yawn. Please wait until I have my camera ready before you atempt this, thanks!

He is sweet and sensitive yet is alway ready for a rowdy wrestling match. He can make a go-cart out of some wood, cardboard and tape. His middle name should be MacGyver . He loves hockey, video games and plays a mean Rock Band guitar. He is so good to his little sister, gives his momma great huggs and his dad is his hero.

She is fiesty and knows what she wants, how she wants it. She has the temper of the devil and the face of an angel. There is nothing anyone won’t give to her, when she turns that smile and sparkly eyes on you. She loves ketchup, ”bipps” (lipstick), playing dressup and shoes. She loves her family but my daughter “I” is her hero.

I love them like my own…

Next up one of my first “real” clients when I started my photography business 2 years ago. I love getting to see repeat clients and see how much their little ones have grown! Little “A” was only 3 months old last time I saw them! We had so much playing in the leaves and feeding the ducks at Kildonan Park in Winnipeg. That was definitely the highlight for “S&A” as you can tell by their expressions!

Prepare for an onslaught of posts today and tomorrow as I try to catch up on my sneak peeks! I will be light on words as I’m saving my creativity for the galleries and card designs.
This family are great friends of ours and I was happy to finally get them in front of my camera. They even brought their babysitter “K” (coolest name ever!!) with them. She hung out with my girls while I took pics of them then I got to take some pics of her too.
It’s not very often I get to take pictures of teens but I LOVE it!! So nice to not have to chase, cajole and beg my subjects into looking at the camera!
Enjoy your peek! The rest of the images will be ready soon!

Another sneak peek for a wonderful family!! We had so much fun exploring Bird’s Hill Park, visiting the horses and the other animals at the stables. I had never done a session here before and will definitely be coming back!! I may even drag my children here for their fall pictures. Now if only I can get there before the snow flies;)
Little “D” was not too sure of me at first. But part way in she warmed up and hammed it up for me!! Family images that show this much love are my favorite! Enjoy your sneak peek “H” family!

You have met Paper Raisin the company but let me introduce you to Paper Raisin the little girl. This is Lee-Ann’s daughter. No, her name’s not REALLY Paper Raisin but it’s her nickname and why Lee-Ann named her business what she did.
This is not the first time P.R. has been in front of my lens, but it’s been almost 2 years! This time she was much more interested in playing with my daughters than me, so Lee-Ann’s and my plan of about 5 clothing changes and 4 locations around my town didn’t quite pan out, lol! A little ambitious maybe?
No matter. We did get in 3 clothing changes and 2 locations, and some images of their sweet chihuahua named Pablo!
Here’s your peek Lee-Ann! Enjoy!
