When was your business born? I have been freelancing on the side for a couple of years but only now as a SAHM am I turning it into an actual business. So I guess you could say it’s in the works!
Why did you start your business? Because when I see a typo on a website or label, it has always made me wonder: If they don’t care about the details, how much can they really care about the product itself? There is a lot to be said for a website or business that communicates its message effectively and professionally. How can we expect potential customers to take our businesses seriously without quality promotional materials and corporate communications? 
What inspires you? I ALWAYS judge a book (and a wine!) by its cover (or label). A seller choses specific images to represent its product, and it is meant to evoke certain images and feelings to entice you to buy that product. This concept intrigues me and I’m always paying attention to marketing appeal and demographics. That said, I am an absolute sucker for pretty packaging. When I am surrounded by attractively packaged products, I am in creative heaven. My most recent creative muse is Etsy.com. I have wasted many hours clicking “favourite”…
What does your business offer? As a communications specialist, I will help you explain your products, plans, actions, and policies successfully to customers, clients, the public, and your own employees. I can streamline your company vision, mission, and organizational goals through straightforward communications. Your goal is my goal, and working with you to achieve it is my passion. Specific services include: corporate literature creation, internal and external communications, branding, print and web copywriting, direct marketing, speechwriting, newsletter creation, e-commerce, donor relations, marketing campaigns, copyediting, feature writing, ghostwriting, project management and more.
Where do you see your business in the future? I hope to have a steady stream of clients who rely on me to balance their company’s communications needs with their customers’ expectations.
How do you balance work/family? Well, I haven’t really had to do that quite yet. Being a SAHM is still quite a new feeling for me. For years I worked at least two jobs (one full-time editorial while serving at restaurants or pubs on the weekend for extra cash), and sometimes while attending school! I don’t remember where that energy went, unfortunately. Possibly into my eight-month-old. But I’m really not used to being expected to spend my days with kids, reading stories and playing on the floor. So I think having this one little corner of the day for myself – to check things off a to-do list that doesn’t include diaper changes and sand boxes – will be a welcome reprieve. 

Now for a few “fun” questions…
Skills: Organizing, home decorating, cooking, baking, dog walking, snuggling, singing lullabies 
Challenges: Cleaning (I hate it), patience (I struggle here, I’ll be honest), understanding Army acronyms (hubby’s in the Artillery)
Chips or chocolate? Is this a trick question? Who would choose chips??? 
Secret weapon: A glass of merlot can solve almost any problem…or at least help me relax enough to stop caring so much! 
Enemies/pet peeves: Typos
Can’t live without: Hearing my daughter’s laughter
Heroes: Mothers everywhere
Little known facts: Many people think they can write…but shouldn’t. Have a professional edit your work for clarity and flow. Trust me – writers and editors don’t just sit around and read the dictionary all day! We CAN (and want to) help you!
