I’ve had this workin’ woman post ready to go for weeks now but every time I’d remember to do it, it wasn’t actually Wednesday! Well hello Wednesday!
This week we have the Aileen Hunt of Fit 4 Two. Pre and post-natal fitness for mommy’s!
AKA: Mommy A-een
Hails from: Winnipeg
Name of your business: Fit 4 Two Winnipeg West
When was your business born? June 2009
Why did you start your business? I was motivated to start my own business when I found I was expecting twins. I knew my enjoyable but low-paying, high stress job in the arts wasn’t going to work out with two little ones. I already taught fitness on the side, so I was drawn to the area of prenatal and postnatal fitness when looking for classes for myself. I found there were few existing options in Winnipeg and decided to get involved with Fit 4 Two.
What inspires you? I love helping expectant and new moms stay active throughout all the stages! It’s very rewarding to support people from belly to baby and back again.
What does you business offer? We offer prenatal and postnatal fitness classes including Prenatal Fitness, Prenatal Aquafit and Prenatal Fitness Fusion, Mom & Baby Fitness, Tummies 4 Mommies, Stroller Fitness, Stroller Bootcamp and Mom & Baby Aquafit. We also offer infant massage classes for new families.
Where do you see your business in the future? We hope to be able to offer more classes in the various neighbourhoods throughout the city, so that more moms and moms-to-be can make connections in their own communities.
How do you balance work/family? Hmm, good question as it is tough to do! I TRY to “schedule” certain times of day for admin work and other times for kid time, which works most of the time. For example, the boys are allowed to watch Sesame Street while I catch up on emails every morning and then I am back at it in the evening once they go to bed. I also have lots of support from the grandparents and my other half for when I am actually out teaching.
Now for a few “fun” questions…
Skills: dancing, karaoke, making lists, following recipes, planning
Challenges: keeping my cool with “double trouble”, turning off the computer before midnight
Chips or chocolate? Either one….parenthood activated my sweet tooth
Secret weapon: Diet Coke with Lime
Enemies/pet peeves: people who can’t commit to a plan!
Can’t live without: one-on-one mornings with the kids. So relaxing.
Heroes: My mom. She’s so easy going and patient with kids. I even got along with her during the so called dreaded teenager days.
Little known facts: I unexpectedly installed a dimmer switch for the baby room during an aggressive case of “pregnancy nesting”.
Anything else we should know? Identical twins are always two boys or two girls. C’mon people!
Thanks for visiting Aileen!
♥Carol
